A Call for Action in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Inspierd by Jiddu Krishnamurti prophetic quote (1981 Mombay)
Introduction
In 1981, philosopher and speaker Jiddu Krishnamurti delivered a profound insight into the future of humanity during his Public Talk 2 in Bombay on the 25th of January. He said,
"As the computer and the robot are taking over the activities of thought, we have only two choices. Either we pursue pleasure and entertainment, or we enter into the whole psychological world and see how far, how deeply we can go into it."
Fast forward to today, and we find ourselves in the midst of a transformative era where artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing not only the way we communicate with each other but also with ourselves.
The Age of Artificial Intelligence
As AI continues to permeate our daily lives, we are witnessing unprecedented changes in virtually every aspect of our existence. From self-driving cars to Chat-GPT, and AI-generated art, the capabilities of these advanced technologies are expanding at a rapid pace. And while these innovations offer convenience and efficiency, they also challenge our understanding of what it means to be human.
Human Intelligence vs. Artificial Intelligence
As we become increasingly reliant on AI, the distinction between human intelligence and artificial intelligence becomes blurred. As Krishnamurti predicted, we now face a critical decision: do we immerse ourselves in the pursuit of pleasure and entertainment, or do we delve deeper into our psychological world?
The Call for Action
Krishnamurti's quote serves as a timely reminder of the importance of self-reflection and exploration in the age of AI. As we navigate this brave new world, we must ensure that we do not lose sight of our own humanity. By taking the time to investigate our psychological landscape, we can explore ourselves and gain a deeper understanding of our place in this ever-evolving world.
An invitation
To embark on this journey of self-discovery, we must be willing to challenge ourselves, our beliefs, and our values. By engaging in self reflection, embracing the art of dialogue, and cultivating a genuine curiosity about the world around us, we can gain insights into our true nature and find greater awareness in our lives.
In conclusion, Jiddu Krishnamurti's prophetic words from over four decades ago ring truer than ever today. As we find ourselves at the crossroads of human and artificial intelligence, it is vital that we heed Krishnamurti's call for action. This is precisely why I have started a research and development initiative called TrueSelfKey.
TrueSelfKey is designed to facilitate self-reflection dialogue, with a flipped role for AI. Instead of providing us with knowledge, ideas, and insights about life, this innovative approach uses AI as a dynamic and tailor-made “mirror” that presents a series of questions for oneself to look within. The AI remains “transparent” to the user's consciousness, allowing them to learn and evolve through the inquiry process, ultimately leading to higher levels of self-awareness.
If you are interested in joining our beta experiment, please write to me privately at observingbeauty@gmail.com , Mention your interest in TrueSelfKey, and I will get back to you with more information. By embracing the pursuit of self-awareness and introspection, we can preserve our humanity and thrive in a world increasingly dominated by AI.
